Cruz is a decent fighter but he has a massive fanbase which makes it seem like he's better than he actually is. I really thought he lost to Angel Fierro and he lost to Jose Valenzuela who isn't that great either. That Mexican style of fighting of getting in your opponents grill usually doesn't work that well against more polished fighters with a good amateur experience. He can overcome that with relentless pressure which makes his fights really exciting hence the large fanbase plus he's Mexican.
