Sergio Martinez Ready To Step in For Kelly Pavlik

BoxingScene.com was informed by promoter Lou DiBella that WBC junior middleweight champion Sergio Martinez is ready, willing and able to step in for the injured Kelly Pavlik and take on Paul Williams on December 5. Pavlik's trainer, Jack Loew, advised several news outlets in Youngstown that his fighter was still suffered from a staph infection in his left hand. The injury had previously postponed the fight from the original October date. Apparently the injury is so bad that Pavlik is not even capable of closing his hand to make a fist. [details]

arum said in february that the goal was for pavlik to fight 4 times this year, so much for that.

Now that would be a good fight for paul williams

I still think paul williams can beat up martinez. Remember styles make fights. Pauls style would give martinez nothing but problems. Make this fight happen.

I really hope they make this happen, the undercard was also something I was looking forward to see.

Would Sergio Martinez style give Paul Williams problems?

Awesome, this fight should happen. They are even willing to fight at 160 pounds, so there shouldn't be any excuses for Paul Williams. He can have all the advantages he wants. This fight should go down as I don't see anything else at P-Will's doorstep (unless he does something incredibly ****** and join the Super Six to fill in for Taylor!).

Hard fight for me to predict now, but I'm going with Williams by UD.
