The December 5th bout between WBC/WBO middleweight champion Kelly Pavlik and Paul Williams is off. This word from Team Pavlik on Wednesday. According to trainer Jack Loew, Pavlik is unable to close his left hand and cannot train to fight-level preparedness. Pavlik's camp recently revealed the boxer spent five days in the Cleveland Clinic in September, trying to get on top of a staff infection in the hand. Loew says the hand has not recovered from the multiple surgeries performed in order to remove the infection. Team Pavlik says another fight date, January 23rd, has been set, but it may not be with Paul Williams. Pavlik will continue to train as much as his condition permits.
