Fighters coming in around their natural weight presently face disadvantages in facing opponents who are considerably bigger.
Weight drained and dehydrated fighters are more susceptible to serious injury and CTE.
The Marquis of Queensbury never envisaged all the myriad ways which boxers would seek to bend & break rules, manipulate weights & use PEDS to gain an advantage. Boxing authorities surely have a duty to take every step to try to keep the field level & thereby protect fighters health.
