Think Morrell needs this fight, as his rebound win against Khataev had been quite competitive to the extent that it is debatable if he had won on that specific performance.

Whereas Smith has a recognizable name that Morrell would prepare and perform better, that if he had a decisive win, it will help his trajectory and confidence.

I see this fight not happening. Smith already priced himself out against Benavidez and i think he tried to do the same here but there was no other option for him. However i still think he will try to get out of this fight. Morrell is style wise a better match up than Benavidez who would have put a vicious beat down on Smith but i still think Smith considers this fight to much of a risk low reward type of situation.

Also interesting Buddy Mcgrit said last month that the fight is basically a done deal for last weekend of January or early February but now Eddie says it was a March show? Something not adding up here
