Something needs to be done about judging. It feels like that is about the only thing that boxing hasn't even attempted to fix. I think judges should have to watch the fight in a room on a monitor so that they arent swayed by crowd reactions or just stuck looking at 1 angle

Nobody cares about close scorecards when theres 3 of them. Its when 2 115-113 cards are turned in and a third card is 118-112 or wider that its obvious that that card is pre written. Those cards arent subjective or angle based.

tv scorers have a better view of all the punches landed than ringside

During Floyd-manny Ward sometimes called punches that didn't land for both guys

fans need to be reminded before every fight that clean punching is king for scoring points

too many dumbos who make up their own rules to score COMING FORWARD over CLEAN PUNCHING

Yes, while ring generalship, effective aggression, and defense are scoring criteria they are passive because if you are doing all of those things in a fight you should be in prime position to land clean effective punches which is what its all about.

On the topic of the thread, the R word is only in my view for fights where one fighter clearly won 8 rds of a 12 for example and didn't get the W. None of these 7-5 fights or a fight with alot of close rds where the fighter you lost money on didn't win.

cleaner puncher gets the benefit of the doubt

the one landing the cleaner punches is likely to also be the effective aggressor, ring general, and better defender

I distinguish between robb and gift

a gift is when a fighter fought to a draw at best but still gets the decision anyways. Artur in 1st Bivol fight. Jose Luis could have gotten a gift

Junto-Sebastian comes to mind for a 7-5 for either or a draw example

those guys who pay off judges do a shtty job. Scoring it 118-110 for the protected fighter makes the corruption too obvious and ends up backfiring on the guy who gets the decision

if I was a bribed judge, I’d score it 115-113 for a robbery

I remember a few gifts and yeah very different from robberies where you know the judges could make a case be it a weak one but the other fighter should have won. I recall Jose Benavdiez fat Dave's bro coming off of his gunshot leg layoff cameback and got a gift over some club fighter.
