The man unified the heavyweight division and like I said he will only grudging respect from most Americans

Do you rate Wlad by the way?

    Larry Holmes or Lennox Lewis?

Holmes beat Ernie Shavers on 3/25/78 to win the Heavyweight title. He defended the title 21 times going 21-0 (15 KO's) These 21 wins included wins over Shavers, Norton, Ali, Witherspoon, L Spinks, Snipes, etc.... The reign of the 21 fights lasted until 9/21/85 when he was robbed against Michael Spinks. This is a title reign of 7 1/2 years.

Please explain to me how Lewis can touch that? And please don't use Tyson as a barometer because Lewis got into the ring with a prime Mike Tyson when he was 39 years old.

funny you should mention that Larry Holmes was robbed against Michael Spinks, when an even greater argument can be made that Williams and Witherspoon were robbed against Larry Holmes. Also please note the irony of you telling somebody else not to use Tyson as an example of a top win for Lewis, all the while using a shot, doped up Ali as a credible win for Holmes

I'm talking about Lewis after you stated that he is living off Tyson's name.

All I'm saying is this he beat who was put in front of him, he avenged his defeats (which Wlad hasn't and many fans respect fighters who avenge their defeats), he unified the division you can't ask for more than that.

And as another poster says Holmes was a fantastic champion.

I have Holmes and Lewis over Tyson. All 3 dominated their era's. But, Tyson did not have the longevity that the other 2 had.

a 21,22 years old tyson would beat any version of holmes and lennox lewis.
but that doesnt make me rate him over those fighters..
they just had a better run than mike.
              the jail destroyed tyson

I mentioned not using Tyson as a barometer between Lewis and Holmes. To the best of me memory, Ali never fought Lewis. Therefore, Ali could not be uses as a barometer like Tyson could. Please follow along and quit drawing your own arguments out of air. It's quite easy to follow along.

You do realize that Williams lost by 7 points on 2 different scorecards don't you?

The Witherspoon fight though was a very close fight. I believe Holmes won by 2 or 3 rounds but it was close. Every champion has those type of fights.

As far as getting robbed against Spinks. It is really an opinion of mine and doesn't really matter as far as this discussion is concerned. He was still champion for 21 fights and 7 1/2 years before the Spinks fight whether you think he won or loss against Spinks.

I never said Lewis was living off of Tyson's name. Some other yahoo said that. I will agree that Lewis was a much better HW champion than Wlad.

Lewis .. he lives off the Tyson name. What else has he done

Holyfield was a great fighter no doubt but "ordinary fans2 only remember his ear not his legacy
                      Lewis: W41(32) L2 D1

                      best wins IMO

                      Vitali Klitschko
                      David Tua
                      Evander Holyfield
                      Andrew Golota
                      Ray Mercer

                      Francois Botha
                      Hasim Rahman

Was stopped twice, but won by KO in rematches and beat every man he ever faced.

                      Tyson: W50(44) L6

                      Best wins IMO

                      Donovan Ruddock
                      Frank Bruno
                      Michael Spinks
                      Larry Holmes
                      Tony Tucker
                      Trevor Berbick

Never won a rematch, was KO'd by 42-1 underdog Buster Douglas.

                      Theres no comparison.

Lewis got laid out by Rahman and McCall in his prime, avenging loss's dont mean **** when you get your ass laid out by Bums.

Lewis beat a old Tyson and a old Holyfield.

The man legacy isnt as strong as people think..
Buster Douglas? Danny Williams? Kevin McBride?? lmao

Tysons best wins were against an old Holmes, and light heavyweight Spinks!
