Malik Scott has called out Terence Crawford's claim that he never received enough credit

Malik Scott has called out Terence Crawford's claim that he never received enough credit, calling it a strange complaint from a fighter who was praised throughout his career...

    Scott isn't questioning Crawford's skill - it's about timing.

Crawford became undisputed at welterweight in 2023, then left the division as Jaron Ennis became his mandatory challenger. That fight never happened.

He moved up to junior middleweight, fought once against Israil Madrimov, and then moved on. Potential matchups with Vergil Ortiz Jr., Sebastian Fundora, and Bakhram Murtazaliev never materialized.

At super middleweight, Crawford beat a 35-year-old Canelo Alvarez and stepped away. Fighters like Christian Mbilli, Osleys Iglesias, and Lester Martinez were never faced.

Crawford built a smart, undefeated career, but according to Scott, leaving divisions before the toughest fights is why the GOAT debate remains unsettled.

'why the GOAT debate remains unsettled'

so that means bud is in with a shot at goat status?

buds a good guy no doubt about it but car crash spence & risk averse over the hill canelo is a bit much

if bud has smacked around 154 i would have been very impressed tho, bud is lucky benny was denied his shot to smack canelo around before he got to him basically, someone was going to get to canelo again & it just happened to be bud, great win but not goat impressive stuff to me anyway

its a common theme that a lot of these top guys are not happy with the flowers they get when all said and done

arum got bud his unification and undisputed fights, bud resigned with arum and was very content with it all in a interview with andre ward at one point, then he suing him for 'messing up his career' or something like that

arum has his business model which he follows, bud could have easily signed with someone else, the other side of the street where a lot of the guys were actually around his time, he eventually left & a belated spence fight came around after his crash & then turki came along and waved his magic wand and made the canelo fight, bud has been truly blessed in how things have worked out for him, he got his undisputed fights and big fights all through his career, lots of guys dont get those opportunities at all

I think recognizing achievements becomes a case of dementia for some folks. It's easier to just remember the recent and forget the past when for some guys, perhaps at a lower weight, they had a whole career there. I think of Pacquiao with this. There was WW Pacquiao which is like an entire career itself, and then everything he did prior to WW which for me, I thought he was going to retire down there. Imagine facing Barrera twice, Morales 3x, Marquez 2x in addition to all the other opponents. None of those fights being easy either. Though because people didn't follow the lighter guys as much back then, it wasn't until Pacquiao beat Oscar and stayed at WW that a lot of new comers discovered him and then wanted to analyze his career strictly based on when they started watching him.

The problem with Crawford, even at lighter weights, the guys he beat were either not really big names, he had no real rivalries and that people really didn't care for his personality much yet to become instant fans. I'll be honest, the Gamboa fight is what put Crawford on the map for me and I watched every fight of his after that. Even attended the Henry Lundy matchup in MSG. Though in saying that, I was cool tuning in if he was fighting but never super excited yet mostly because the matchups he was having weren't super enticing. I think that plays a part in how people analyze a fighter later on.

Who were the biggest names on Crawford's resume that had star power and got folks attention? Ricky Burns? Maybe for the UK fans. Gamboa? He was hyped up to face JuanMa Lopez and it never happened. I think he was already showing *****s in his armor when he faced Crawford but still a very good win and fun to watch. Then obviously Spence who had his own fanbase and the mega match with Canelo. Not quite a stacked resume overall of star studded fighters.

i dont think that is true, bootsy had plenty of time to becomes buds mando but he never actually did it as far as i remember, he could have easily forced the issue and put it up to bud earlier if he wanted to, lots of guys go that route when they want a fight, usyk did it with joshua, he made him fight him or drop the belt
