I understand the whole boxer v puncher thing. But sometimes, or very often actually a fighter isnt even a boxer using movement as a tactic. He is just running from a fight. Leonard moved laterally as well as moving back. There were times when he ran from Hagler. If he had lost points for avoiding a fight, Hagler would have won on points.
With new tech, computers could count the feet or yards a boxer retreats each round. If a threshold is crossed the fighter loses a point. Set the threshold so a fighter can still box and move, but not so high he spoils the fight. (Like Canelos second last opponent.)
The tech could be fine tuned in non world title fights until it guarantees an actual fight, but still lets boxers move and box.
Thoughts?
