well some people are more how will i say precious or sensitive to these things, now he may have a chest infection and if that is the case fights off as antibiotics etc but some just want things to be just right all the time which is not possible and with a few weeks to go before the fight u will be just fine most likely, ive read about this quite a lot, a fair amount of athletes of all sports pick up things when they dont want to and get through it fine in the end, paro himself said he was sick for his best matias fight win in the run up so horses for courses i guess

actually in boxing cases there could be a fund or downpayment that both boxers pay into say X amount and if one guy pulls out for whatever reason the other guys gets his cash

The flu is not joke. It will put anyone bedridden for a couple of days and you have to deal with it for like a week. That means that he won't be continually training, they might be weight issues and a built in excuse. Tough to go through this with missing out on a decent profile fight with pay.

true if your health is a bit off you could be dealing with it for 2 weeks or more if u get a bad dose, young healthy people normally bounce back in a week and are back to normal and ready to go

as you say he might be off the weight and feels like he wont make it now, i could see that being a problem alrite

some people deal with stuff like this unexpected stuff and some dont, im not sure what i would do, if i had my training mostly done and was on weight i might see it out and rest up and hope for the best, i have had bad flus and have been zapped for a week to 10 days and less bad ones so depends on general health but boxers are usually good for that, i think if i got a flu these days i would be badly zapped for ages

The larger promoters often can afford to pay their fighter if the other guy pulls out (presumably they have insurance). Edwin De Los Santos got paid when Keyshawn Davis missed weight, for example.

i presume its in the contract that if opponent pulls out due to sickness then the other boxer gets some form of payment

The flu you can be sick for a couple of days or it can knock you down. Depends how your system is and which strain you get.

Who is Paro going to fight then? Fingers crossed that it is Ricardo Salas or Karen Chukhadzhian. Those intrigue me personally.
