without box-rec-ing his resume - and ignoring the first 10/12 fights as they're nearly always no-hopers and journeymen - weren't the rest at least top 20 hws at the time he thought them? and in some cases arguably top 5 with Ortiz. And if he could go 3 competitive fights with Fury who is likely a top 5 HW the first quarter of this century along with both Klitschko's, and Usyk - then how bad was Wilder really? Not a modern day great but I'm pretty sure he'll get in the HOF.

Wilder is def going into the HOF. I don't doubt that. And I'm not basing his resume on his first 10/12 fights. Every fighter goes through that process except Lomachenko.
I don't blame Wilder for fighting in a weak HW era. It's not his fault. Wilder is more like Arturo Gatti, a basic but exciting fighter who is in the HOF but that's not to say he was a great boxer.
Wilder is like many guys who've suffered their first defeat AND they were never the same after. There is no shame in losing to Fury but to go on and keep getting beat up like a pinata means Wilder is/was exposed (as many suspected) as a one-trick pony, heavily reliant on his overhand right punch. Again, not a knock on him. It's the one thing that got him where he is today.

Morrison DEFENDING HIS WORLD TITLE vs a half drunk journeyman out of the crowd was definitely a worse mismatch than this.

Yes this might have been worse how this was approved for a world title bout is beyond me. Granted the WBO had the value of what the WBA regular belt has now but even by those standards this fight was beyond dreck.
