There was nothing preventing the fight from happening on cinco de Mayo weekend. To suggest otherwise is a blatant lie.

In fact, he and Nevada waited until they were sure Manny was ok to fight.

Only after they made arrangements for the fight to happen did Manny get the fake stitches from Bob’s son in law.

Then Cotto stepped up and a fight was made. So clearly there was no games being played or any tricks.

Once again Manny made a decision to avoid the fight. Only this time everyone waited to make sure he wanted to fight.

He couldn’t make a fake excuse or blame the offer or OST etc. so he had to have fake stitches to all the sudden be not ready to go.
