“I want the fight with Deontay because he’s a dangerous guy; a world champion for a long time [2015-2020]; a guy who for the last 10-15 years has been a very great champion,” Usyk said.

I think for Oleksandr Uysk personally? The fight against Deontay Wilder makes sense, because as I have said many times before 'Tyson Fury, Anthony Joshua and Deontay Wilder are the three Heavyweight Mountains of this era. In combination, those three heavyweight fighters even before Uysk entered the divisions. They completely cleared the heavyweight division out'.

Note: Surely, when Lennox Lewis eventually faced Mike Tyson 'there were other heavyweight contenders, that in that present moment were deserving of a title fight over Tyson. But? Mike Tyson was the bench mark in the heavyweight division for over a decade; he was the fighter and former Undisputed Heavyweight Champion that every single fighter was compared to. Even Lennox Lewis himself. So? Lewis knew that he had to challenge and fight him at some stage of his career if the opportunity ever arises'.

To conclude: Oleksandr Uysk is now present day, in a very similar situation to Lennox Lewis 'yes Deontay Wilder is miles outside of his peak, but he is still a active fighter and former WBC World Heavyweight Champion. Who is one of the three Heavyweight Mountains of this era, along with Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua. The other two definitive heavyweight fighters of this era who have propelled Oleksandr Uysk's prestige as a Heavyweight Champion'.

If Oleksandr Uysk wants to fight the last of the three Heavyweight Mountains of this era 'I think the fight makes absolute sense for him as competitor, because he is from the same era as them' etc.

It's obvious that Usyk wants to assert his dominance over the division by beating the not-too-distant last era's champs and former champs. Wilder is among them, but come on, man, the guy's so past it that we're only hearing his name because Oleksander mentioned it.

Wilder is so washed up at this stage of his career. This fight makes no sense as far as competition goes. It should be a cake walk for Usyk. He should have fought Wardley.

hes not dominating the division if hes fighting wilder who isnt ranked in the top 10 by anyone credible. if he wants to dominate the division he can fight wardley, kabayel, itauma, etc...
