Is Devin Haney the new Floyd Mayweather? THE NEW VILLAIN OF BOXING?

Haney has a lot of similarities to Floyd Mayweather. They both have that stereotypical American finesse boxing style, hit and don't get hit, a snapping jab, and avoid engagement. Haney even sounds like Mayweather, Haney emulates Mayweather (If you violate than I'm going demonstrate) and they are both hated by the fans while still having a sizeable fan base. Haney is a 3 time World Champion and Mayweather was a 5 time World Champion. They're both undefeated, and they both have a flamboyant Mexican-American as their arch rival. Floyd Mayweather vs Oscar De La Hoya and Devin Haney vs Ryan Garcia.

The differences are that Haney doesn't exactly have charisma like Floyd. I would say Haney takes more chances for his opposition while Floyd kind of cherry picked, Haney's Dad does most of the talking while Floyd was the best trash talker not his Dad/Uncle. Mayweather avoided engagement especially towards the end of his career. Haney does that too but he also ties people up more often.

So! Is Haney the new villain of boxing?

Well he isn't in the driver's seat strong enough to cherrypick so he gets more respect if he stays away from being bogus unlike Floyd

        speaking of charisma

Floyd daddy and Uncle Roger are charismatic. Won’t say the same about Bill and his indoor sunglasses

Uncle Roger was a living breathing meme who coined YDKSAB

          That's a fair point.

Floyd was a cherry picker and too defensive for my taste. That said, he did have world class skills and he was a very smart fighter and self promoter.

Haney has skill but nowhere near the level of Floyd. He runs his mouth more than Floyd. Floyd could clinch but he didn't spend entire fights hugging his opponents anytime they got near him. And Floyd had a good chin. That shot Mosley hit Floyd with would have KOd Haney.

Haney will always be known as a no chinner who had some skills but fought terrified of getting hit because he knew he was a no chinner. There is no "bad boy" persona to build because most people won't pay to see him period, much less pay to see him get knocked out. Floyd had established himself as a great fighter by the time he created the MM persona. Haney has two losses (Loma and Garcia) and plus he and has dad sound s t u p i d. Floyd was smart and knew how to play the villian.

              No.

Floyd’s main rival kept making excuses not to fight him. Even turning down more money than he ever made to fight someone he had beaten 2x, getting ktfo as karma for his cowardice.

Devin isn’t as good as Floyd, doesn’t have the quality wins, doesn’t generate the revenue, and his main opposition doesn’t make excuses not to fight him.

Floyd was scared to fight anybody with a pulse

He's his own boss until its time to make a fight happen

Haney will be alright. He'll keep getting more respect than Floyd if he stays on this path and he'll earn a living respectfully. Everybody ain't cut out to shuck and jive their way up the ladder to success.
