Boxing HAS become pretty stagnant in the U.S. Ever since foreigners became the money players in the sport.
Bob Arum doesn’t have a network for his fighters. Al Haymon does, but PBC doesn’t know how to promote or how to consistently put on good cards on a regular basis that people can get accustomed to.
In fact, now that I think of it, you could say that boxing in America started to go downhill ever since Haymon and Richard Schaefer ripped off the Golden Boy roster and moved those fighters from HBO over to Showtime and a bunch of other networks. Saturday night boxing has never been the same since.
Shoulder Roll, TR may not have a network, but last night's event was on Tubi (free streaming). One of Boxing's long-standing issues is the fact that almost all major promoters are behind one or two paywalls. Almost every PBC show is a PPV. DAZN is doubling down on the PPV model with their new "Ultimate" price tier.
