Comments Thread For: BoMac on Christian Mbilli hesitation: 'That's the proof of who Lester [Martinez] really is'

When the judges? scorecards were read revealing that Lester Martinez had stepped up to boxing?s highest stage and produced a fight-of-the-year candidate by gaining a draw with top-ranked super-middleweight Christian Mbilli, Martinez trainer Brian ?BoMac? McIntyre encouraged his fighter.

Christian ducking is a big shocker. Martinez clearly has more upside in a rematch and deserved the decision first time. He rolled most of the big punches from Christian. While Christian took them FLUSH while walking forward not back! Mbili will suffer pugilistic Dementia, not just from the Martinez fight (albeit he did fork more damage there than anywhere else)
He has outstanding will. but literally eats punches like golovkin minus the Neck Strength.
Martinez is built like Oscar bonavena, Oliver Mccall, Canelo etc. His chin is absolute granite because he has a unique skull and neck.

I think Mbilli realized there is no guaranteed to win a rematch and that he may have just got lucky escaping with the draw. His entire team is like, yo, we need to collect some kind of big paycheck before this dude's luck runs out. Let's not risk it. Going after Munguia is a smart move if he's there for the pickings. A win over Munguia which in itself is a decent paycheck puts Mbilli in for another big paycheck.

Lester is high risk low reward at this point. Highly doubt they ever run it back. Not unless they're both nearing retirement and having had losses and looking bad. That's the easy, we can hype up our first bout years ago to try and get some folks to buy into the rematch.

It's all about the money. And there is more of it fighting Munguia. Specially when Mbilli is not sure he will get a fair shake in the rematch, believing he had done enough to win the first fight.
