I?d struggle to begin to describe how much I dislike bare-knuckle boxing, writes Russ Anber.

Sounds exactly like all the old men clutching their pearls about MMA in the early days.

I'd rather watch guys get cut up and break their hands than get beaten to death on live television, like I've seen in boxing numerous times in my life.

Fighting bare knuckle is closer to what one might experience in real life street self defense situations, where one won’t have the benefits of wraps and tape and big puffy gloves.

As time goes on I am curious to see what styles and methods are innovated by, and emerge from, bare knuckle contests.

If the point of the article was to protest the proposed changes to the Ali Act then fair enough, the intent was good.

But just to criticise bare knuckle boxing? As with the poor quality ppv boxing events dominating professional boxing, if you don't like it vote with your feet/wallet; don't watch it

What exactly in the rules prevents bk boxers utilising appropriate defensive tactics? Sure, they have smaller targets to block/parry with smaller tools to do it with. So would that make a good bk defensive fighter more or less skilled, or just different?

The main issue I have with bkb as it is presently is pretty much the same as MMA, especially in it's early days. Not enough money for any kind of decent testing protocols and obvious rampant PED use.

Right because coup-contrecoup for 12 rounds isn't barbaric lol just as long as someone's face isn't bleeding... And yet when BKFC comes to Hollywood Florida 5 or 6 times a year I'm buying tickets the moment they go on sale. The prices are reasonable, all the fighters are out in the casino and the lobby before and after the fights and are approachable, the fighting honestly is more exciting more often and for the most part the sportsmanship is noticeably better. Action is rewarded and the fighters fight MUCH more often. Sure just like boxing there are talent levels, but the top guys ARE super skilled. Sure some of the fights look like street brawls but there's still plenty of sweet science and skill when a guy like say Austin Trout fights. Boxing isn't BKFC and BKFC is boxing. Nothing is perfect but boxing should concentrate on keeping boxing exciting and relevant instead of trying to **** on another sport because it's doing well and boxing may or may not be doing as well as it could be.
