There?s only room for one elite super middleweight on Quebec?s south shore, and Wilkens Mathieu solidified that position Thursday with a win over Shakeel Phinn.

Mathieu almost got let down by his stamina. He's good though , really good. richardt is right , he needs to move his head. His chin is pretty solid but he did get rocked. There's a lot to like about Mathieu though .
Wilkens fought the right plowder with not much natural talent, however Mathieu has many defensive flaws mostly when on offense, but he’s a counter punchers dream due to the wide open arms while punching. It’s going to be interesting to see if they refine all these mistakes he’s making as he steps up in talent. I won’t focus much on him getting winded due to it’s early in his career and he does throw lots of punches but often without looking for anything back. I also would like to see him switch a little less, tuck his chin a bit more and not waste as many punches and he may become special if he can correct the small gaps in his arsenal. He is a young gifted fighter that just needs fine tuning.

Yeah , the switching didn't make sense to me. He was having success as a right handed fighter so what is the point of switching ? Not too many guys are equally good from either side. Maybe he was just working on it ?
Definitely the most talented fighter out of Canada. He's only 20 years old too. so the fine tuning will come, to beat Shakeel far more convincingly than Bazinyan is definitely a statement for a kid that age.
He needs 8 rounders... He lost the 4 last rounds, 3 of them convincibly, and Phinn shook his brain cells dangerously at one point ... Don't be fooled by the score cards ... Not ready for 2nd tier guys me think ... He has potential though, but he needs to keep his over-confidence in check...
