Why hasn't Turki put up $ for a Murtazaliev fight on one of his upcoming cards? Seems like Turki puts plenty of other ******s - many with less profile/no belt - on his cards. It's curious.

Because the business of boxing is corrupt. And Turkey is not the solution, he's part of the problem, even if he does throw cash around to make good fights sometimes.Comment

That's the sad truth! Lubin didn't go to Ortiz Jr. because he doesn't want to be a champion. He went with Ortiz because of money. Main Events does not have a platform for the fight to be viewed, so they're looking for the B-Side to do the real promotion! That's crazy!
I have my doubts about this fight. For one, I'm sure Kelly would rather get paid to take a beating from the WBC's Fundora or Ortiz or even take his chances with WBO's Xander Zayas. If Kathy cares about Murtazaliev she should either put up the money or let him go to the promoter that can.

Turki said that he approached a few top fighters and put good money on the table to fight Murtazaliev and they disappeared. Turki refused to name names but he said they were afraid.
IMO, a durable boxer with footwork can beat Murtazaliev but most promoters are just trying to protect their money makers.👍 1Comment

Lubin doesn't have reliable marquee value or major promotional backing either. If he did, surely his team would be able to get Main Events on board. In Lubin's mind, beating Ortiz will put him in line for a Fundora rematch....as if PBC doesn't have their own financial woes. We don't really know Fundora's marquee value either. You have a bunch of good fighters at 154, but no superstar. The A-side/B-side debate shouldn't be a factor.

I didn't read that. Thanks for the intel. I wonder who turned it down? If you've seen any of my posts about Murtazaliev you'll know I agree with you that a durable boxer with good footwork can/will beat him - with one caveat - they gotta be able to crack, too.

Well if i'm promoting the challenger, and you're the Champion, but depending on my team to promote the fight, put asses in seats, find a platform to televise the fight, etc., how you gonna say you should get paid more than me? Because you're the Champion? Whatever! Oscar got Lubin because people know who Lubin is! Oscar has DAZN behind him! What does Murtazliev have to entice anyone to fight him? The belt is not enough! You can't buy anything with belts!
