At worst it’s slightly ambiguous but then I think bread’s objection was to being called a liar which I’d agree is an unnecessarily strong word to use to highlight what is only a minor ambiguity.

that’s highly misleading so let’s get that into context a bit. Ortiz’s was originally offered a fight at 147 and de la hoya declined it on the marinade front as ever. Ortiz then moved up to 154.

Ortiz then offered boots, the then champion at 147 a fight at 154. In what world is a world champion ducking when someone in the division above demands that they move up in order to fight them. You want the fight you go down and face them. if Ortiz wanted the fight so bad why didn’t he move down? why didn’t he take the fight when it was offered at 147? the rhetoric trying to make out Boots ducked the fight is laughable. Especially when boots made it clear he wanted all the belts at 147 before moving up - which is why he fought Stantionis. Hearn was just too tight to pay enough to get norman in the ring. That wasn’t down to boots.

Nah, I think Boots made the right move to become unified at WW. Still plenty of time to get great fights in, but it's gotta start NEXT. But, like I said before, I'm thinkin it may be against Lubin!

they offered norman 1,75 million. he wanted 500 000 more. i don't remember how much ennis' purse would be but i guess not more than that. nobody pays unknown b side fighter more than a side. that's on norman. i wanted ennis - stanionis more so i am not complaining.

someone in another thread said he wanted 300k more, 2 mil for a unification fight doesnt sound too unreasonable to me anyway

My criticism of Boots for choosing Stanionis all comes down to name recognition, and the BIG BAG! I have never read anything about Vergil turning down Boots, when they were both at 147. I'm a big Boots fan, and my fear is that he will go the path of Terence Crawford! Crawford stayed at 140 to unify the division, when the division was filled with nobodies. He's on record of saying "We ain't worried about Manny Pacquiao, ...Manny got to come to 140!" That's crazy talk! Then he signs an extension with TR when ALL the best WWs were with PBC! Nothing good happened for Crawford until he left TR, and beat the brakes off Errol Spence! I fear that Hearn can't make the right moves for Boots, and that still falls on Boots!

Maybe you think Stanionis, and "unification @ 147," means something? Crawford was Undisputed @ 140! Name the people he took titles from. See what i'm sayin'! Had Boots beat up Vergil already, maybe he could get Crawford? Maybe he could get Jermell? However cats can conveniently go other directions because they can say, "who has he beaten?" Vergil can swerve him now because he turned down an offer to fight him! Boots vs. Lubin is not what the people want to see!

The record books remain. They might last longer than people's memory of Vergil Ortiz if he never wins a major title. And I think that fight is still available. I don't think Bud was ever in play. He can probably still get Jermell as he's making noise again, according to what I read on Bad Left Hook today. If Boots vs Lubin is not what people want to see, then Vergil better make sure he wins. If he doesn't, especially if it's a KO victory or at least non-controversial W for Lubin, I'm sure people would like to see Boots vs Lubin. The Vergil haters will come out and say he was always over hyped.

If Lubin wins, then we'll most likely get Boots Ennis vs. Abass Baraou for the WBA title. Nobody wants to see that! Nobody knows Baraou! Lubin is a good opponent, but Ortiz a great opponent. Not because he's great in the ring, but because the BIG BAG comes with Vergil! I just hope Team Ennis gets smarter! Passing on Vergil was a BIG MISTAKE! If Lubin takes Vergil 12, it will take a lot of shine off a megafight! To make matters worse:
