Comments Thread For: Enough talk, let's get to the junior middleweights' action

The talent-rich junior middleweight division is in a wayward drifting stage, where the best fights are remaining agonizingly elusive.

Since when did Boots - Ortiz become a 'superfight'? It's a good fight, sure, but arguably not even the most interesting one in the division.

Fundora - Thurman should be permanently shelved and Fundora - Boots pursued as an alternative.

All anyone has to do is look at Lubin, Bochuck, and Madrimov and then look at the last three opponents Ennis has faced to get an understanding of who takes the most risks. Ennis can change that perspective only if he faces a top fighter in his next fight. My guess is he will; the pressure is on him now and it should be partially from his own pressure on himself.

No sir!! Ortiz first two fights at 54 were freddie lawson and Thomas dulorme. Lawson is less than a gate keeper and Dulorne is a blown up 140 lb’er. And Ortiz was over 54 for both weigh ins. Stop playing games! Making unrealistic comparisons to make it seem as if Ortiz takes more risks. No! He takes the same amount of risks as anybody else. He had to first warm up to the division. Boots must do the same. Dont move the goal post. So by that standard Ennis can face a blown up 140 lb’er in his next fight, then he can move to the tougher guys at 54.

So you’re saying Ennnis should fight another bum next and get a pass for it?

Ortiz was coming out of health issues and Ennis is coming out of Unified, Lineal, Victory. So they need to be treated equally(being sarcastic). The guy above doesn't get the picture.

You clearly say to compare the last 3 opponents. We know who is taking the tougher opposition.

Boots should fight Barou for the WBA and Ortiz should fight Zayas for the WBO or Bakhram for IBF. Then they can meet in a unification super-fight

Wrong! Ortiz was coming from a serious health issue and was out of the ring for a year and a half! Ennis was not coming from a serious health issue and out of the ring for any extended length. The fact still holds that the opponents show who took risks and who did not, even at Welterweight and 154 especially consider health issues and being out of the ring. And you forget something else, Madrimov, Bokuchuck, and now Lubin still top any fighter Ennis has ever fought. Let that sink in. Ennis will get accolades when he fights a top contender. Till then, he has not taken the same risks that Ortiz has, at any weight. Even at Welterweight, Ennis fought Avaneysan, Ortiz at Welterweight fought the guy who knocked out Avaneysan in Kavaliauskas and knocked him out. Let that sink in.
