For years, fans have screamed for better fights, and for certain opponents to face eachother. Turki has managed in a short time to do just that. He has the mean$ and doesnt care how much he needs to spend. Yet we still have detractors, haters and the like, still b!tching. This is part of the reason boxing isnt as popular as it was in the 70s, 80s and 90s. Too many b!tchy fans.

I'd say it's a mixed bag. Turki had enough to make Canelo vs Crawford, but apparently not enough to make Canelo vs Benavidez, which more people wanted to see. And that Times Square card, that was closed to the general public? Why boast putting on a card that few could see in person in a venue like that?

The Saudi fund is used for propaganda purposes to white wash the atrocities and oppression in their country. They are taking advantage of a lack of interest in US boxing to advance their interest. If a fight isn’t a viable product to make money on its own then that’s a business decision and a free market principle problem.

The fact that the Saudi’s aren’t interested in making any profit to advance other interest is a separate issue. They are taking advantage of the lack of ability of US boxing oromoters and networks to building compelling fighters and fight cards US audiences want to pay for.

Canelo didn't want to fight Benavidez, that was pretty clear.

The Times Square thing was about doing something different. It may not have been perfect but surely it's better than the card not happening at all.

Ginger made way too many excuses to not fight David. So he cherry picked Crawf and got his comeuppance! What's crazy is imho, he would've had a better shot beating Benavidez. Not that he would have but, Ginger wouldnt have had to find Benavidez as opposed to how Crawf employed a great game plan of boxing, then slipping damn near everything Ginger threw. Benavidez would've been front and center. Oh well, that time has passed and Ginger got beat, soundly.

Canelo initially said he didn't want to fight Crawford either, and yet, it happened.

They have had a huge gathering every New Year's Eve in TS, since 1907, except for two years during WWII. Surely, one of the world's wealthiest men could have put together a fight card there that was open to the public too. To have a big fight card in a world-famous public place yet close it to the public makes no sense.

The article boasted about Turki having enough influence/dinero to make great fights. My counter is that he didn't have enough to make Red vs Benny. Everyone has a price.

I appreciate what His Excellency has been able to do so far but he doesn't know how to set up or run boxing, example piss poor match making.

Old Mike Tyson vs Jake Paul completely eclipsed the Sept event of p4p talents Canelo vs Crawford in viewership, how did this happen?

Again, this goes back to Turki and all the promoters not understanding what the target audience wants: Amazing, fun and fan friendly fights.

This may be seen as b e o t c h ing but it's the truth, boxing is simply boring right now.
