Comments Thread For: Canelo Alvarez re-enters WBO super middleweight rankings at No. 1

In the eyes of the sanctioning bodies, even though Saul ?Canelo? Alvarez is no longer the best super middleweight in the world, he is still ranked highly at 168lbs.

Canelo is still a formidable opponent for anyone NOT named Benavidez at 168.
Canelo vs Sheeraz is a sure fire hit of a fight AND I’d still favor Canelo to beat Sheeraz.

Not surprised W.B.O has Sheeraz next well done Turki . Alvarez won’t go near Iglesias or Martinez or Mbilli . Turki got Sheeraz or Eubanks jr. Crawford need’s to vacate also unless he’s gonna give Iglesias or Martinez or Mbilli a Shot.

The sanctioning fee amount has a relationship to the purse bid and fighter purses, correct? These greedy muthas want part of the tainted beef express. “Me! Me! Choose me!”

How about Canelo vs Sheeraz, before he retires. Forget about Crawford, no need for a rematch and he'll never beat him.

Too much to hope for that Canelo would move up and fight Benavidez. That's a fight I thought Canelo would possibly win, but not anymore.

He's had a great career though, gazillions of dollars, wife, kids, house on the ranch, other properties, he's settled for this earthly life.

Canelo has been all smoke and mirrors for many years. There's guys who would have beat him or given him REAL big trouble. Even Munguia, John Ryder and Berlenga gave him hard fights. Canelo couldn't get anything going in his fight against Scull. He looked absolutely lost. Have people forgotten that boxing fans have been wondering if he's been a shot fighter for 4 or more years. No stamina, throws single shots with full power (often from to far out of range), slow paced fighter, slow trudging foot movement, needs to hurt opponents with single shots or he's unable to sustain a continuous assault. Geriatric Golovkin even gave him a run for his money in their third and final fight (GGG's first fight at 168 and at 41 years old and final fight of his career). Why is everyone not talking about this old, declined, shopworn Canelo? He can still be a formidable fighter but he's closer to FINISHED than he is to PRIME.
