I think he stands a chance. He can throw off lightning quick combinations that will be hard to counter and go on the run anytime Abraham tries to fire back. The only time Dirrell seems to get in trouble is when he gets trapped in the corner or against the ropes and Abraham's not going be able to chase him or cut off the ring the same way Froch did (not that he even did a great job of that).

Is it crazy for me to think that Dirrell can pull the upset against Arthur?

Dirrell is very capable of defeating Abe.....Abe is very beatable and Dirrell is good at all the things required to beat the guy.....I like Dirrell's chances ALOT!!

Okay firstly Dirrell was "running" against froch because Froch was chasing and trying to land something big wildly, AA doesnt chase he stays in the pocket with his gloves in his face which would make Dirrell more static, You can run with no-one is chasing you and thats what would happen in this fight which would make the fight more difficult for Dirrell.

Stranger things have happened in boxing, but Dirrell has little chance IMHO. He lands far too few punches and half of those that might have landed on Froch will connect only with AA's gloves. AA will outscore him for a comfortable decision. He may well KO him; depends if Dirrell is taking the risks he needs to to have any real chance.
I'd actually like to see a Dirrell win just to keep up interest in the third set of matches.

Dirrell can definitely win.
Abraham gets himself into holes with his inactivity. Dirrell will have more room to operate, and his movement should be effective.
If you can avoid the huge shot, AA is VERY beatable.

Dirrell would also surely have learned from the Froch fight, he has that extra seasoning now that he didn't have before which can only help him.

Dirrell has the toolset to go the 12, but not the power to (T)KO AA. He is VERY fast and able to avoid the truck. The last three rounds vs. Frogg were showing his skills, and that he can go 12 w/o problem.
But is he able to avoid AA for full 36 mins, at the same time getting enough punches through/around AA's guard to convince the judges? I doubt that.
AA needs to corner him a very few times, and the fight is over.
I put may money on AA in this fight.

I know that AA has a lot more experience but he has never been on this side of the pond and now the home town cooking will be in the running mans favor and most likely he will be rewarded for basically doing what Dirrell does best. I might seriously consider picking Dirrell to win this match.
Your thoughts.
I think Arthur will win, he will adapt to Dirrell's negative style and find a way to get some big punches in.
But Dirrell has about a 4" height and a long reach advantage. And it may depend on how much holding and childish behavior the US ref allows Dirrell to get away with.Last edited by The Hammer; 10-20-2009, 07:49 AM.
