    Runner-Era of Boxing

From 2015 to 2025, I’d call it the Running Era of boxing. The hype fights and so-called ‘Fight of the Century’ just don’t deliver. The excitement of the ’80s Four Kings or the ’90s heavyweights is dead. Judges keep rewarding runners instead of the guys actually pushing the fight. No wonder MMA left boxing in the dust.

There is some truth to that. But I think we can still revive boxing with a bit more timely aggression which is what I saw in Shakur Stevensons last fight with Zepeda. Landing clean combinations while avoiding being hit. Bud's fight with Canelo was similar in certain aspects, but I know we want more exciting fights. I think it's probably more of an American thing tbh. A lot of American fighters are very slick, defensive minded, but still land hard shots in between the running. Good examples of this are Haney, Keyshawn Davis, and Lamont Roach.

He moved, answered Gingers 1 punch, with 3-4 punch combos, set traps and Alvarez fell for em. Out boxed, out punched, out landed, out classed. And NEWWWW

You guys mad that highly skilled boxers you don’t like are beating the lesser skilled boxers you like are becoming a drain on the sport.

There has always been highly skilled boxers. It’s just their opponents didn’t just come for the check.

The poster above mentioned Shakur v Zepeda. Zepeda actually tried to win so it made for an entertaining fight where Shakur showed his skill set.

Same with Crawford v Canelo, although Canelo didn’t throw as much as he should’ve.

If a guy like say a Manny decides not to fight his hardest when in with a Floyd, that isn’t running. That is not trying to win and collecting a check.

I do agree that we have too many guys that do that. Charlo against Canelo was the latest example of this.

its not a street fight you neandertthal. its boxing, a martial art. theyre in a ring, not a phone booth. blame canelo for having flat mummy feet and not knowing how to set traps. thats like complaining watching basketball because they dont dunk on every single play.

99% chance OP is Mexican, only group who complain about this. you literally don't see brits, african americans, germans, ukrainians, or the japanese saying this.

Elite boxer will not just stay there like an idiot and wait to get hit in the head.
