I thought his stamina seemed better going into the late rounds. The problem is that he paced himself too much by hardly ever throwing the right hand or throwing in combination. Had he done more of that I think he could outboxed him but then again we don't know how much his stamina would have been affected in doing so...then again it probably would have slowed Abraham down more as well so who knows.

      Taylor was screwed either way.

      Throw, get tired and, KO'd.
Not throw and lose rounds and still get KO'ed.. just later.

I don't think he threw because he knew Abraham would time it and counter it.

Abraham is pretty inactive early on, but he's feeling his opponent out, breaking them down and timing them.

Me too. But Taylor outboxed Pavlik a bit more decisively than he did AA.

Taylor's combos were nicer in the Pavlik fight, but Pavlik also threw more than AA.

I'm sure he was being cautious as well but there were certainly times when he was throwing a jab 3,4,5 times in a row without Abraham even reacting when it seemed he easily could have thrown a right behind it. Maybe it's easier said then done...

He probably could've, you're right. But I believe that Abraham is a lot smarter than he appears and wanted Taylor to throw a good number of rights.

Taylor, IMO, seemed very tense even during the opening rounds. I just think he didn't want to take any risks, but he was in a fight that called for them.

Another point that I wanted to make is that Abraham doesn't really counter right hands, he usually looks to counter a jab by either jabbing back or throwing a right overtop. From my observation when a opponent throws a right hand at Abraham he looks to block it instead of slipping it and the impact knocks him off balance slightly where he can't easily counter.

But yea, I agree...it's likely a combination of him being very cautious about being hurt and conserving energy because of his stamina.

I'll have to go back and rewatch Abraham fights and look out for them (or look out for the lack of them).

Not saying I don't believe you, but it's just something I didn't really notice before.

But yes, you're are right he does like to counter over the top with the right or a jab of his own.

BTW, Abraham is a ****in master at tucking in his elbows and forcing shots to go low.

I don't think he can be beat upper echelon fighters anymore. That was a brutal KO. I also think no matter where in the world he was, he was losing that fight. I do think he can continue, I just don't want the guy to get hurt.
