Lots of new fans don't know or remember Paul Williams but the dude was a dog. He beat a pre-discovered concrete handwraps Antonio Margarito and got some other decent wins against Kermit Cintron and Sergio Martinez. I didn't realize until this article that he had signed a fight with a young Canelo. Man that would have been a war and honestly he probably had a better shot at beating old Cinnamon than the other way around at that point in their careers. Canelo wasn't nearly as good then as he is now. The dude got twice as good post Mayweather so yeah makes that motorcycle accident all the more tragic. Just awful to happen to such a good dude.
".....I was going to back up all night and let him follow me."
Yeah, right.
PW only had one way of fighting and that's going forward.
Throwing 1000 punches to land 10.
Wasting whatever size advantages he had.
And smothering his on punches by being so eager.
This is why a troglo dyte like Margarito was able to make it a close fight.
The punisher brought it in every fight including the Sergio Martinez knock out. Its just sad that the injury ended his career. Wouldnt want to wish what happened to anybody period. Glad he's enjoying his life going forward

Margs was cheating in that fight, too. Thats the only thing that made it close.
Paul's best fight was against Winky. Had he fought Canelo the same way, he could have gotten the win.
