"I think this is the worst era of boxing overall since I started watching boxing"

when u make a statement like that its a fair assessment to take it to mean u are talking about the boxers themselves & if i made that statement and was not referring to the boxers themselves i would put a proviso on it explaining what i meant, just my opinion of course
Like I said, if you actually read Breadman, you know what he meant.

He has always complimented the talent of modern fighters.

He's talking about the business of boxing.

      ok

i just did an AI search of breadman edwards view on this era compared to others and it says stuff like

"He believes the overall quality of fighters has deteriorated due to the sport being "drowned by excesses," leading to fewer fights, less activity, and less focus on developing a comprehensive skillset, contrasting with the brutal, high-volume, and gritty style of past fighters who fought multiple times a month."

"Edwards notes that many modern fighters train more for fitness than skill, which includes the challenging art of cutting off the ring and simultaneously scoring points while cornering a moving opponent"

"He has stated that the overall quality of fighters has deteriorated due to the sport being overwhelmed by "excesses at every level"
