im trying to get my head around this statement, i mean even top guys of other races like ggg & loma for example cant sell a ppv on their own lol, bit of a bizarre statement given u have the popularity of guys like tank davis as well

as for jaron ennis the term superstar should not even be close lol, hes only a superstar in avoiding people, ive never seen someone so hyped as him & he wont take on the challenges to proven people right or wrong
    Doesn't make any sense

No fighter in history had a better chin than Kid Gavilan. Look it up! 143 fights in 15 years. Never stopped, even on cuts, against some of the toughest competition in history. Only down 3 times in 143 fights and got up to win two of them. The third guy he beat in a rematch. End of discussion.

Yes and no for me. Take out the word superstars and it makes more sense. Bud isn't a superstar now. Ennis on his current trajectory - ie fighting irregularly and against uninspiring competition (see latest no-name opponent) will never be regardless of color.
I guess good black fighters get less a lot less hype than above average western white fighters and good latin fighters get more hype than good black fighters.

eg Tim Tzysu > Fundora > Jermell (until he unified)

Floyd and Tank are exceptions in modern era. Hagler is more typical from the 80s than SRL. Then Ray Mancini - very average and Pernell and Meldrick.
Today we have the Irish-American MW training with Roach who is way-over hypred.

Callum Walsh - his name just came back to me - he's a ticket seller because the Irish root for their own - so promoters give him 'a push' meaning hype him

and part of the hype is doing advertorials on boxing sites

relative to their talent levels - then yes - I get that some say Boots ducked Bud and/or Ortiz but mostly he has been avoided by guys who could get him exposure - ie top 15 guys - only Stanionis had the balls to come and get it. But I do also blame Bozy Ennis for not getting his son signed directly with PBC or one of the other big promoters from the get go.

Moton gets almost no hype - he's not going to be doing his own shows for quite some time yet - and any hype he does get is because he's with Floyd - but he is 3 times the fighter that Walsh is
