Vergil basically said that he would only fight Murtazaliev if he could violate the IBF weight limit and then he clearly admitted the extra weight was an advantage he wouldn't fight without.

My heart sunk because I like Vergil Ortiz, but now I have serious questions. Were Vergil's wins because he was better or because he's really a middleweight that shrinks down to over power smaller fighters.

If it's the latter....a fight with Jaron Ennis will be a repeat of Spence/Crawford and I think Oscar knows it.

Ortiz talked about it in a couple of interviews, right around the time he secured the fight with Ericson Lubin. He didn't use those exact words, but that's exactly what it boiled down to. In one interview his exact words were , "every inch that you can get, every percentage (referring to weight advantage) you want to keep. Get the rule taken off (meaning the weight limit ) and the fight is easy”. I need to look up the other interview because he was more straight forward, he talked about his weight as an advantage and he wasn't going to give up
