I didn?t ever believe that Jake Paul would fight Anthony Joshua ? a match-up between them seemed too far fetched...

Davis v Lomachenko was a 50/50 fight? Maybe by 2022 when Loma was slowing down and undergone two major surgeries on his lead shoulder. In 2017 I’d have favoured the Ukrainian around 90/10. There’s a reason Tank balked at any suggestion they share the ring back then.

" . . it’s his management, promoters and broadcasters who have allowed him to get what he has without earning it. The fault lies with them above all else."

I agree with Paulie's criticisms of Davis but not with this. The fault lies with Davis in not instructing the people who work for him to make those fights - if he'd wanted them - so he obviously doesn't. It's prizefighting, a business , and it's the job of his management, promoters etc to make him the mist amount of money possible so, in that respect, they've definitely succeeded.

It is about attraction and promotion nothing more any more, if it is a great match up it has nothing to do with anything on the platform or promo side. G.Davis has always been a dog just a common mutt for boxing. He did nothing for boxing and boxing did everything for him.

Amen ! Spot on with assessment of Davis and his padded record, babied spoon-fed career! Protected that “0” at all cost…though the bs draw is a big blemish on that padded record. Never could dare to be great, no legacy, and will now be remembered for pathetically taking a knee when it got tough against Roach and then running to his corner bc his poor little eyes were stinging from “ hair product”….boo-hoo! Classic!! Deserved to be loudly booed and humiliated after the fight.

I've never been on the Tank train. I saw two of his fights when they happened and only paid for one (bought the PPV for Benavidez vs Gvozdyk, not Davis). 1) vs Pedraza 2) vs Martin. He'd be fun to watch for free, but I'm not paying PPV prices for mismatches. If he fought any of the names Paulie mentioned (Stevenson, Roach rematch, Muratalla, Cruz, Mason) I'd fork out the $. Davis' fights remind me of Canelo's last many opponents. I didn't buy those PPVs either. But at least Canelo HAS fought tough fights/fighters even though he ducked Benavidez. And, being a fan of Crawford, I'm looking forward that one.

trouble is in Boxing that this type of hand picked careful stay away from any challenges inside the ring at all cost is what boxing has become and has been for many years now.
Add to that the fact of what it cost and the unavailablity of fight cards for the average sport fan then you got a small fan base and nothing much to watch at a high cost. Nobody bucked at G.Davis for years then at 31 someone writes about him and says what every fight fans has always known that it is all a set up ...............

It's always refreshing to see such honest assessment in today's boxing landscape, where so many media members are afraid to misstep because they are paid shills for whatever company, etc. Part of Paulie's appeal has always been his integrity. You may not always agree with his takes, but he always has the balls to speak his mind. Teddy Atlas and Al Bernstein also come to mind, when speaking about the "soothsayers of the sweet science."

Couldn't agree more, I second your assessment.

I have read multiple articles in the last three months where he says he is retired. I guess an exhibition fight fits into that lifestyle. I have never paid to watch him and never will.
