Promoter Mick Hennessy is set to turn his attention to deciding on a location for Carl Froch's blockbuster Super Six showdown with fellow world champion Mikkel Kessler - but admits the Englishman may have to go to his rival's backyard.
WBC super-middleweight champion Froch enjoyed the raucous support of 8,000 people in Nottingham on Saturday as he beat American Andre Dirrell, and next up in the Super Six Boxing Classic is a clash with Denmark's WBA champion Kessler.
Hennessy said: "We'll begin talks now but we have an agreement with Sauerland Events (Kessler's promoters) that wherever it makes commercial sense and wherever we're going to get the biggest gate - whether it's Copenhagen or Nottingham - is where it will be."
After the narrow split-decision victory over a negative Dirrell at the weekend, Froch - now 26-0(20KOs) - believes his next fight against Kessler will be far more exciting.
This makes fare more sense to be staged in Kessler's backyard.
1st: Kessler's going to fight Ward in Oakland and Sauerland promised him his next fight to be in Denmark.
2nd: Abraham is going to have his 3rd fight in England.
3rd: Sauerland 0wns Hennessy...
AA is probably going to win this tourney, I mean how can anyone get past his solid guard? I had him winning against Taylor pretty much most of the fight, except for a couple of the earlier rounds just because he wasn't really doing much.
I think all of the fights should have been at more neutral sites but it's not like this is a single elimination tournament so direll has two chances to redeem his loss. I'm hearing ppl talk like the tourny is over for these guys when that definately not the case. lol I just saw a sig pic with direll and taylor X'd out like they've been knocked out of the running if froch and abraham both lose there second fight it'll be right back to square one. So while the hometown decisions are BS in this situation its not necessary to get all worked over one... just be confident that by the end the best fighters will be on to the next round after three bouts.
