The only thing boxing is lacking is quality broadcasting of the type HBO had, and active monolithic champions.
Crawford fights once every leap year, Usyk once per year. At least Inoue is an active champion.
The talent is there it's just being very poorly managed, the sanctioning bodies need to start enforcing their mandatories, **** or get off the pot. You can't be fighting once a year as an undisputed champion it's pathetic.
Wlad, Floyd, Manny you were guaranteed 3 fights a year. These guys complain they aren't stars when they barely fight.
What is wrong with the MMA model apart from the fighters supposedly don't get paid enough? I see no reason why boxers should get paid 10 million. Yes, it's dangerous, but so is working in heavy industry, so was being a nurse/doctor during the pandemic - so many nurses died and not afforded adequate PPE until too late. In the UK we had the pathetic clap for the NHS workers - and did they get a decent payrise/bonus at the end of it - some can't work because they are traumatised.
Getting paid i/2 million is life changing money - should be enough. So if boxing is messed up now then let the would be fixers fix it - when you fix a broken car you don't make it perfect - you get it up and running efficiently - something that Turki seems to be doing so far - stop the wailing. Lets see insurance, ped testing and pre-fight mri scans
My solution is to watch less boxing. It’s pretty easy seeing that quality cards only come around 4 times a year. I’m under no obligation to watch lame fights just because they are on. No, I won’t be watching Boots’ next fight against a guy I never heard of.

The massive amounts of money the top earners are making virtually guarantees inactivity. If any of the real money trickled down, even lesser fighters would become inactive. Fighting for a living is, unsurprisingly, terribly rough. Nobody really wants to do it. But I agree that quality broadcasting and one champ per division would be great for the sport.

I used to enjoy watching Friday Night Fights. Serious boxing fans lost a real outlet there. Saw some good action and even great bouts on that show.
Boxing is getting harder to be a fan of.
I'm letting my DAZN subscription lapse when it's time to renew. Started out full of promise with HBO then Showtime disappearing but with rate, adding PPV's it just got to be too much. Asking me to pay to see Whyte fight this weekend was the last straw.
Honestly, what folks are doing on Youtube feels oldschool, but unless you know there are live fights going on various channels, you just don't know they exist. This past weekend Miguel Cotto had a live card. I've seen Goldenboy doing live cards. Probox probably was the first to start free live Youtube fights. There's an organization in DR doing it. Gabe Rosado just had one. There are fights to be seen to catch young and upcomers, they're just not promoted well enough to get the eyeballs to watch.
If you're into boxing just see the stars, you're going to have to deal with all the redtape that goes along with them. That means a lot inactivity due to the massive paychecks they receive and allows them to sit out the rest of the year once they got that 1 massive paycheck in. It also helps them maintain their marketability if they don't need to face a mandatory or someone who has the potential to upset them. It's all about keeping those massive paychecks flowing while they can.

You got a good point there, the inflated paychecks for the "top" fighters have a big impact on the sport. But the real problem with the MMA model is how much money is being squeezed out by the UFC and Dana White from the fighters, it's pure exploitation when the businessmen are making many millions of dollars and the fighters aren't. The same goes for any industry, but we live in a world that celebrates CEOs and spits on the workers that put themselves on the line.
And let's not forget that a boxer's paycheck is divided between the boxer, his whole training team, the cutman, his manager, and sanctioning fees. On top of it, you have to pay a lot of taxes, so even when a boxer makes 500K, we are talking more like $200K.
And the great majority of boxers don't make anything close to that in a single bout.

nothing will really change until Boxing itself becomes accessable to all fight fans new / old or not bitten by the boxing bug --- every other sport looks to bring new blood into the sport Boxing as a whole (or hole) pushes people out could care less about a fan. The fans themselves could run boxing better then boxing does right now. And you are right this talk about not critique fighters or boxing is wrong. Fighters never made so much money that is why they all fight so little anymore. I know what you are saying about risk while making a living know it well.
