Now i wonder how much of a fan senators Jack and Davids are? Hmmmm? Or maybe there interest has just bean peaked now they've had their palms greased????
i am totally against this since they want to coexist with 4 belts and rankings. these ideas they mention will not solve existing problems and bring more fans.
the only change that will matter would be to organize high level boxing like in the movies and animes. big arena with best fighters from around the world contest for the title and big prize money every year. no s t u p i d random matchmaking and fighting in their hometowns (because nobody else cares), no divas and no popular names that think they are bigger then everybody else.
whatever turki and promoters have done in this century is a waste of money and time.
This has long been the right way to go - boxing has changed the past 20 years.
It used to be all great fighters had to come to American to make their name, their money, and their legacy.
If a guy in Argentina was a good fighter, a promoter in America would pay to bring him here and test his meddle. That's not the case anymore - boxing is global. The organizations are now trying to rank a guy who is 14-0 in Ghana and a guy who is 14-0 in St. Louis and a guy who is 14-0 in Japan. That's an impossible task - so the guy who draws big money or paid for his rankings gets his name on the list. Then they'll rank a mediocre guy from another country to sweeten the list for when a big-money champion wants an easy defense.
Boxing needs to be more localized to thrive in the 21st century.
I’m ambivalent. Maybe if the two can exist side by side there will be more opportunities for talent to be discovered. Boxing’s current (past) system over looks a lot and allows the “stars” to avoid dangerous contenders. The UFC, while not perfect, has been better in that regard over the years.
If this passes, the U.S. can kiss its free will goodbye as many smaller promotional outfits will be run out of business. They can either join TKO/Dana White/Turki or find other means of making money. This could affect Arum and Oscar as well. BUT....it will Oscar and Arum's fault if this bill passes by bowing their knee and giving Turki a way into boxing. We'll see!!
I am also very concerned that it may weaken the negotiating power of the fighters. Space Waves is a runner-style arcade game that focuses on reflexes and control skills.
That's exactly what this law is intended to do, and I'm truly ashamed to be associated with the Association of Boxing Commissions, who unanimously gave a coat of polish to this turd of a law. I'm by no means a fan of the cartel of the IBF, WBA, WBC and WBO, but passing this law will make things exponentially worse throughout the entire sport. The reason boxers get eight figures while MMA guys comparatively starve is because of the system MMA was allowed to be organized under. If anything? This law should be busting up MMA's stranglehold's, not giving them to boxing promoters.
