It really is not worth talking about Boots and Norman at this point. Norman ducked him and turned down $1.7 million to go earn $150k in his next fight against Cuevas instead

Jolene Mizzone and/or Top Rank cherry-picked and protected their fighter from a probable loss.

Norman reportedly made $1.6 million with ppv money figured in for fighting Sasaki. A fight that he easily won. It seems like Boots’ team offer was low. They were trying to get a bargain.

So in two fights he still didn’t make the $1.7million that Boots offered him? A shameless duck.

It was a savvy business move. He didn’t owe Boots any favors. He can still get him on his resume later in his career for more money

Reportedly? The ring site said this...

The Ring has been informed Norman will earn a career-high purse for fighting Sasaki in the challenger’s home country, though not in the neighborhood of the reported $1.7 million

The site that says 1.6 is poorly translated but that money only kicks in if they get 500k ppv buys which seems extemely unlikely. That site also says his purse for the fight is 400k which is a lot less than 1.7.

also lets not conflate the time line. He took another fight and earned 150k instead of the 1.7 million. The offer was last year

Yes no doubt. Ducking is savvy. Fighting worse fighters and continuing to win is better than losing most of the time but it's not respectful to try and manufacture your carrer ducking and dodging the best. We don't have to like it and we shouldn't

There he goes about Boots again putting him on top of the 154 division even though he hasn't fought anyone at that weight and even though he refused to fight Vergil Ortiz. Also I am not sure that Fundora would be a huge test for Boots. Vergil Ortiz and Bakhram Murtazaliev are the real tests at 154.

Well, Kathy Duva is pulling a Jolene Mizzone and will have Murtazaliev avoid Boots for at least two fights. He’s fighting Josh Kelly next and then Erickson Lubin.

I am not sure that Murtazaliev is avoiding Boots, or anyone for that matter. I think everybody is avoiding Murtazaliev. Way too much risk, not enough money to be made. He has been sitting on the shelf for a while before Boots made it known that he wants to go to 154.
