Comments Thread For: Does Top Rank placing prospects on club show indicate broadcast deal lapse?

While Top Rank officials have maintained confidence that a new broadcast/streaming deal will come together afterward, Top Rank fighters are being assigned bouts on other promotions in the interim, indicating the expectation of what one industry official labeled as an ?uncertain lapse? in the transition.

Top Rank smart, decided to let others take all the financial risk for some gain oppossed to losses.

All I know is Brian Norman had a chance to unify the division and make a $2 million dollar pay day but turned it down to go and fight for 200k in Japan on a Thursday night… whoever was advising him (probably his dad) needs firing

Hopefully Top Rank finds a stable platform (or platforms) to showcase their cards, the more boxing content we have available to us the better.

All boxing promoters just need to be on the same platform.

I’m sick and tired of how they always maneuver to avoid each other. It’s killing the sport.

you got that right it is all about easy and cheap access for the fans to make boxing move forward instead of backwards as it always seems to do anymore. boxing needs to blood and not just inside the ring..........

I still believe that Top Rank will sign with Netflix
It would make sense with them being more involved with combat sports

I’m hoping for that or Netflix. It’s clear dazn is on its way out in the USA. It will just be a uk based entity for boxing. The Mike Tyson fight proved how well Netflix would do for boxing with all those eyes on it. Bring back the days when 10-20m eyes were on championship level fights

It wouldn't be TR's preference to not have a new deal lined up. That says a lot about the state of boxing in the USA while it is thriving in Japan, Australia and the UK,
There is a willingness of US broadcasters to get into boxing when they see attractive matchups eg Bud vs Canelo. My take is that the promoters are lazy and or incompetent at promoting. The three largest figureheads are Arum, Oscar and Haymon. Haymon can't promote because he's a recluse. Look at that sentence again. If you are invisible and none other will effectively step up in your place how are you going to effectively promote?
The tv companies want to invest into a thriving market that has the potential to catch the attention of the casual fans - the promoters should be part of that.
Specifically for Top Rank I think part of the issue Arum's age - you want to sign a 5 year deal with TR - will he still be around, what are TR's plans if he isn't? Wasn't it the case that Buffet had a successor for a long time? Same as Rupert Murdoch.
