As I watch Chavez v Tszyu and everything leading up to the fight including on the day of the fight, Showtime was questioning Jose Suleman and why they ranked Chavez to fight Tszyu, it all feels so modern. Granted, you couldn't be any further from similar in Chavez and Barrios, but the reality of an aged warrior who did not look good in his past performances vs a young fighter are there.

I woke up to watching shorts of Roach and Manny training and Roach smacked Manny in the face because he couldn't react in time. Wtf is going on? A 60+ year old just hit Manny because Manny's timing and reaction is gone and we're about to throw him in against a 30yr old? Sad times for sure.

Pacquiao's legs makes the difference between him being a good fighter to a legendary fighter.
Without legs, he's not even decent as a welterweight. He needs to go to 140 if he wants to win a world title without legs.

I just don't see any keys to victory for him. The keys are all rusted. There's no other outcome than Pacquiao getting ragdolled by Barrios.

There's no "we" about it. Pacquiao is ultimately responsible for this decision. I said in a separate thread that I would have thought Pacquiao, being from an eastern culture, would be more inclined to turn inwards in a search for peace, rather than this ostentatious pursuit of external glory. Do you know if he meditates?

I did say you couldn't be any further from similar in Chavez and Barrios, but what I really meant was watching an old legend take a beating from a young fighter. Of course Barrios and Tszyu could never be compared, but rewatching Chavez not being able to pull the trigger, the timing and everything was off. I can't help but think we're going to see that again and Pacquaio really doesn't deserve to get beat by the caliber of Barrios. No disrespect to Barrios, but in Pacquiao's prime he probably would have gone down in 2. Sad times for sure.

He is, but I also feel like his manager pushed him enough that Pacquiao just thought, why not? To him, it's like another exhibition, though he has to train harder. I believe his manager is looking at the Saudi money and thinking, if Manny can win a belt and be in conversation, the amount of money he can rake in with a Saudi fight could be huge. Do you think his manager ultimately cares about his health? Nah.
