Score cards are submitted every round so that score cards can't be manipulated post match. I think either consciously or subconsciously the judges favored Wilder in any round that looked fairly close so we got that lame decision.
There is no possible way to decide to score the fight even off of the last round unless you had it a Fury win by 2 points,
Concerning the original premise Wilder could have won similar to his Ortiz win in the 2nd fight but most likely not. The version of Wilder post Helenius would lose a wide decision or get stopped in a similar manner to Dubois if Usyk decided to put the foot down on the gas pedal.
