Has anybody gone to this event before, I am planning on going and was wondering how it was. Which boxers usually go?? I wanted to meet my boy Mickey Ward, Carmen Basilio, and Gerry Cooney. But anyway just wanted to get an idea on how cool the event is by somebody who actually went. Thanks

International Boxing Hall of Fame
Once a year one place only.
Canastota NY its the cooperstown of boxing.
The H.O.F. has a list of activities on their webpage for the 2005 induction
here
Their is the schedule, I would tell you what to expect but it is all laid out for you. I would recommend the dinner and induction ceremony myself.
It's an unimaginable experience for boxing fans, you will see MORE than what is expected their.
Last year had stellar appearance.
Also expect many more star boxers than that, the list is rather bland to me but still with great fighters. I am waiting until one of my favorites gets inducted before I make my trip to the hall.Comment

Our boxing team went out there the first year that they had it. They offered an amatuer boxing show for the people as well as a pro show later that night. Unfortunately my guy backed out of the fight so I wasnt able to throw any fists. However, there were all kinds of ex fighters walking around and all of them are more than willing to take more than a few minutes in talking with you, unlike the stars of many other sports. It is definately worth a drive or the cost of a flight to get out there. I dont remember all of the guys that I met that year, only Carmen Basillio and Kid Gavilan. There were so many of them though, take the time to go and you will remember it for the rest of your life, that is unless your an ex fighter yourself. I just dont recall of the guys that I met but it was a good number of great ex-champions.............Rockin'Comment

Ohh yeah the attendees are usually better than the inducted.
Im excited to go, I thought about going last year but didnt want to break the bank.
But actually for the memories and the cost of everything it is relatively cheap minus the travel expenses.Comment

Ohh yeah their use to be a site strictly about the hall of fame experience and their was a funny story about Saad Muhammad, a man in his 20s approached him and he was an absolute ****head to him and a young girl walks up and he is just like "Hey how you doing" haha....That would be an experience I wouldnt want to forget.
I have met some boxing legends
Wepner
Carter
Pryor
Ali
While it wasnt at the hall they are memories I cherish and call me a dork, but so I wouldnt forget them I wrote them down on a piece of paper about it so it would be vivid to me at all times.
I envy my grandfather though he actually met Sugar Ray Robinson and ate dinner with him...Im envious.Comment
