I would dispute the Morales 2 win.
Morales was coming down from 135 and coming off getting absolutely destroyed by Zahir Raheem. He was no longer El Terrible. He was just terrible.
ODH hadn’t fought at 147 in 8 years. That win isn’t a big deal.
I think these wins are overrated to a degree but he still had an ATG HOF career filled with great wins.

All top tier wins.
Marquez 2 and 3 <- I'd say Marquez 2 was his best Marquez win. It was close fight again, but he dropped Marquez and did bank enough rds for me including hurting Marquez pretty bad again in a later rd to get the decision. 3 I actually had Marquez winning and thought he may have been robbed though I never rewatched it to confirm.
Cotto <- This was also incredible to witness, but hard too since Cotto was one of my favorite fighters at that time. People say Cotto was weight drained but it was a 2lb difference and STILL WW. People like to forget, the WW LIMIT is 147lbs but anything from 141lbs to 147lbs is WW. Cotto looked his usual self in the early rds. There was not one thing different about him. He was aggressive, strong and gave Pac the fight we expected. Once Pac turned it around with the knockdowns, Cotto was never the same and now it became a "weight" issue.
Sasakul <- I saw it on YT maybe once or twice. Impressive win for the time to capture the belt when nobody was paying attention to the fight scene over there and what was going on. Considering how young Pac was when he did that was impressive.
Hatton <- Brutal performance with Pac in what should have been his premiere weight class, 140lbs. If only all the 147lberes were sitting in 140lbs, I think Pac would have had more devasting wins against them. This was the division for Pac's final form. Where his opponents wouldn't be dramatically bigger than him and all his attributes were at their best. Speed, power and his size comparative to any other 140lb fighter. Unfortunately we only got 1 fight there from Pac. He had to stay at 147lbs because that's where the big names were, even if he was at a size disadvantage throughout, thus producing less KOs.
Morales 2 <- This was awesome to see Pac add dimensions to his game. Not just the right hook (he did use right hooks vs Barrera prior), but more the patience he showed and less reckless attacking. At least comparative to their first fight. Though then Manny went ham on their 3rd fight and gave us a crazy 3 rd fight against Morales to end that rivalry.
Someone mentioned Oscar but in hindsight, it was an out of his shell Oscar passing the torch rightfully on to the next big star in boxing. I was also listening to the hype prior that Oscar would probably hurt Manny due to the size advantage, however that would have been an in his prime Oscar that wasn't afraid to trade because Oscar had a wicked left hook. I'm not sure Pac neutralized the left hook so much as Oscar was just not there or able to pull the trigger to throw it. Though none of this is Manny's fault. Oscar called him out, not the other way around. Pac and team took advantage of what they knew about Oscar and made the fight happen.
I would also add that for an out of his prime, leaving the sport type win, Thurman is a great win for Pac. This was Pac facing the NEW generation after having gone through his own generation. This was at a time when his generation had mostly retired (Morales, Barrera, Marquez) and Pac was still doing it. He faced Broner, Rios, and Thurman was among the top of the list when it came to current gen WWs. It was literally an old fighter using whatever he had left to tame and take down one of the best of the new WW generation that had almost the complete package. It was Pac's last great win to add to his list of accomplishments.Last edited by ELPacman; 05-16-2025, 09:50 AM.

With Cotto, if 2 lbs wasn't a big deal, why Pac DEMAND it ???? And balked at giving Cotto a fight w/o a clause !
Pac knew Done La Hoya was an easy mark. On paper, it appeared to be madness. Visually, it was "Will Oscar survive the ring walk ?"
Hatton was an overhyped guy who had a drunk fan base.
Lastly, no one mentions any other fight Sasakul been in other than the Oac fight. That div was as weak as it ever was.

You can say he was perfect opp for pac, but this was king of the division. He had the frikin ring magazine's people's champion which back then was basically the man at the weight.
With cotto, if 2 lbs wasn't a big deal, why pac demand it ???? And balked at giving cotto a fight w/o a clause ! ///////// Pac was still not a legit ww at this time and now people wanted pac too because of the money he brought after beating oscar. The oscar fight was basically a sham of a ww fight. Pac's first and oscar going down to a weight he hadn't in years. It did not mean pac was a legit ww yet. He only had 1 fight at 135lbs before facing oscar at 147lbs. So against cotto, it was more about kind of meeting at the middle since it would be pac's first true ww opponent whose been at ww for years now.
Pac knew done la hoya was an easy mark. On paper, it appeared to be madness. Visually, it was "will oscar survive the ring walk ?" ///// Again, you can't put any blame on pac. He never called out oscar. It was oscar that called out pacquiao. Pacquiao's team laughed off the idea until roach had oscar for a camp and realized he had slowed down a bit in sparring and was having trouble against a smaller southpaw dude in sparring. This gave them the idea to okay the fight, but again, it wasn't pacquiao's idea.
Hatton was an overhyped guy who had a drunk fan base. //// It is what it is. The dude was popular as f**k. Floyd beat him out of his dominant weight class and people gave floyd big points for it, so now pac did it, but in hatton's premiere weight class (where he was most dominant and effective).
Lastly, no one mentions any other fight sasakul been in other than the oac fight. That div was as weak as it ever was. ///// Yeah, i mean who cares about winning a championship in the 90s... That's why pac is considered legendary. The dude won legit belts in multiple decades. Though yeah, you sound like me when i was younger and thought it was a whack fight since the quality was bad and it was in asia.
