Friday and Saturday saw anticipated fight cards fall miserably flat. The BoxingScene team diagnoses what crippled the shows.

Lessons learned (we can only hope...) 1) Rich arabs who know nothing about the sport are not going to fix boxing's problems. 2) Rich boxers who are not hungry are not going to give you entertainment value for your hard earned dollar.

And this part goes back to part 1. The rich Arabs will overpay these fighters and they'll underperform because they can. They're being compensated tremendously more than they should be. They'll play a safety first type fight always before thinking they need to bring the dog out in them and put on a grueling war for the fans when they know a W will get them a call back for another over compensated paycheck.

That said, I don't think it's always the matchups that are bad, at least not on paper. I expected at least Teo/Barboza and Garcia/Rolly to be super highly entertaining matchups. Unfortunately neither really was and they were mostly just a grind. Rolly dropping Garcia was the highlight of the 2 cards on Friday/Saturday.

Again, thank gawd for Inoue on Sunday. Too bad 90% of the casuals missed that one and saw the stinkfest Garcia/Canelo matchups because of who they were.

Turki needs to get back to making good fights to consolidate the division... why has he gotten involved with Haney/Garcia... two overhyped guys without belts..

Fights he need to make(not ranked):
        1. Benavidez/Bivol
        2. Nakatani/Inoue
        3. Consolidation of Featherweight division
        4. Consolidation of Jr. Middleweight division
        5. Consolidation of Cruiserweight division
        6. Consolidation of Welterweight division
        7. Consolidation of Lightweight division
        8. Consolidation of Jr. Lightweight division

I learned nothing other than Inoue really is that good and I hope he fights the dude that won in the semi main when he goes to FW.

I also learned Ryan is a joke without PEDs, Haney is scared to get hit, and Lopez could be making way more money and headlining ppvs if he fought better guys.

I have learned one interesting thing. I don't really understand why Turki is spending all this money without returns and I am not sure if anybody knows either. I know that people are talking about sports washing but, I cannot see how spending all this money is really helping Saudi Arabia get a better image in the world. Hard core boxing fans criticize him for it (mostly) and casuals don't even know it is happening. Nobody is buying the tickets of ppvs and the rest of the world is not breaking their legs to fly over there. Yes, many of us are grateful for the matchups we are getting that were never going to be made without Turki's money, but once again it is hard core boxing fans only. The others don't even know this is happening.

Sometimes the simplest answer and the most obvious one is the truth. Maybe they are doing it because they can. If you had a few billion dollars what would you do? Play your national anthem in a foreign country just to stick it to them?

Turki should give this monster paydays to Inoue, not to Canelo.

We learned that Turki hasn’t a clue what the F he’s doing.
wait until Canelo v Crawford will be the biggest bust in boxing history. He can’t say he wasn’t warned.
