It’s better suited for amateur boxing where they only score the punches that are landed.

Had the Canelo/Scull bout been an amateur bout; Then Scull won have won that bout hands down.

It’s because he threw and landed more punches than Saul Alvarez.

Scull didn’t land more punches according to CompuBox.

And it was a historically bad, stinker of a fight weekend too if you include the Friday bouts.

When I was younger, I used to be like "oh, it's technical, you guys just don't get it"
As I got older, I appreciate technical boxers, but I definitely favor aggression more than I did as a late teen or in my early 20's.

Guys like Inoue, Crawford, Boots, Bivol, Lomachenko. Guys who can box but try to press the action.

Another thing is, you have the chance to change your life, your family's life and get generational wealth if you win. Instead of giving it your all you just are happy to survive to a decision, fight in spurts, where you can just claim you were robbed. If you're in a big time fight and don't even try to win I never want to see you again.


Also I would like to point out to most posters that boxers that fight like that do so on purpose. They will intentionally avoid action, dance around, fight in spurts in hopes of playing spoiler and getting lucky with a decision. My mind was changed once I found out they intentionally do this.

There is being technical and there is running around without throwing punches. Two different things.

I’d like to see them make 18’ x 18’ rings be the standard size in order to limit the runners. This is supposed to be a fight not a track meet, if you have good defensive skills then show it in the pocket.

Scull fought like he did in the Canelo fight probably because he was instructed to do so.
His team's whole preoccupation was, most likely their whole game plan and training
was geared towards doing what Lara did, then cry robbery. You know, people these days love playing victims.

Bottom line is 80% of boxing is all mental. And when you're instructed to use your bike, then you're basically
have given up winning even before going into the fight.

Maybe if Scull was left to his own devices he probably fought fire with fire.
You would notice this situation in Madrimov's sudden change of style in the Ortiz fight in the last rounds.
All of a sudden Madrimov was trading with Ortiz without fear of getting hit. What do you think happened?

Because, and again bob arum is responsible in this one too, he marinated the Gamboa vs JMlopez for too long, greedy, he wanted to take money from both for the longest time, he knew one of them would be heap scrap after the fight, my pick to win would have been YG. If that fight had been made, Gamboa would have been a superstar. Of course, he needed to win, he destroyed Rigondeaux marketing right after the best win of any boxer that year. I haven't seen a similar match-up in quite some time. He gave an excuse to all the fighters around Guillermo's division not to fight him, I remember the next fight, an African warrior that gave Mares a hell of a battle, becoming gun-shy after the first left he took. And Mickey Garcia refused to fight Gamboa, even though he was a long-time mandatory, which is on record from the mouth of his trainer and brother.

Rigo was really bad with his bending at the waist ****. Boring as hell and quit against Loma that was pathetic

Shakur Stevenson literally holds the BEST plus/minus in boxing, which means he's doing a lot more than outlanding guys by 3 punches.
