  • US boxers: style over substance

US boxers exist within a culture which has made the Kardashians famous, promotes former reality TV personalities to the highest office and gave us Jake Paul. Because of the massive reach of all forms of America media within the English speaking world, US boxers enjoy a huge advantage before they've even laced a glove. Despite all this, to get their biggest stars off social media and in a ring last night, look what it required:
    1. A 'gimme' fight to showcase their supposed talent.
    2. A disproportionate payday.
    3. The promise of a 'big fight' down the road.
    4. A bogus secondary sanctioning body belt.
Despite all this, these alleged elite fighters turned in a predictably underwhelming event. Hopefully Turki refocuses his attention on fighters with substance, a willingness to test themselves regularly and fight outside their home country/city.

Hamzah Sheeraz got a gift draw that he didn’t deserve. UK fighters always get overhyped then fail at the top level.

Style Over Substance? A Harsh Dose of Reality—Served with a Side of Snacks

You’ve nailed the vibe perfectly. The spectacle of US boxing has become less about grit and greatness and more about glitz, gimmicks, and guaranteed paydays. Fighters with millions of followers get fast-tracked, while actual contenders have to grind in obscurity. Last night’s “showcase” bout felt more like a promotional trailer than a real fight—complete with the usual overhype and under-delivery.

It’s like ordering a luxury meal and getting a fast-food combo.

Speaking of combos, if this fight night were a food menu, here’s what we were served:

Fight Night Food Menu – "Style Over Substance" Edition
        • Main Dish: The Flashy Flop Special
A heavily marketed entrée with no seasoning, served lukewarm, and leaves you hungry for real competition.
        • Side Dish 1: Gimme Fries
          Hand-picked, low-risk, soft opponents deep-fried in hype.
        • Side Dish 2: Belt Salad
Tossed with too many sanctioning body ingredients—WBA Regular, WBC Silver, you name it—none actually filling.
        • Drink: Hometown Hype Juice
Imported from Las Vegas, bottled in Instagram stories. Sweet, but no substance.
        • Dessert: The Big Fight Promise Cake
A slice of hope with sprinkles of "maybe next year," best served cold.

brit fighters especially the white ones have no answer for Mexicans lol

Black-Americans are still among the top groups in boxing alongside Russians and Mexicans

Jaron is the best hope for American boxing

Americans like ShoulderRoll are hostile towards Inoue because they can't get their heads around a man who fights regularly and behaves with dignity.

Their need for constant stimulation requires some social media edgelord hollering abuse and calling themselves an "A side" rather than actually fighting.

When you are a fighter who can't do it on the highest level, you better be marketable to promoters and fans, and kiss some @ss to the sanction bodies.
