Dirrell knew he wasnt ready for froch. Too early in his pro career to fight froch. Dirrell is like what Amir Khan was a few fights or so ago.
That is why Dirrell clinched all night long. After taking the first few hits, he knew it would be neccesary to clinch to get him through the fight.

He didnt go into the fight wanting to clinch. If he had it his way he would have went hell for leather and sparked Froch.

The middle rounds were the worst stretch, but he may have been awaiting his second wind.

Rewatching the fight I actually found it quite exciting. Dirrell turned it on in the last 3 rounds but with the point deduction it wasn't enough in my eyes.
