  • Comments Thread For: Paulie Malignaggi?s Picks: Jaron Ennis has to prove he deserves the hype

Jaron Ennis-Eimantas Stanionis is the biggest fight at 147lbs since Terence Crawford and Errol Spence fought for the undisputed title in July 2023. It?s also the only welterweight fight that can be made today that?s anywhere near as appealing.

Money quote: "He could be the next big fighter on the east coast."

LOL - good one, Paulie. That's kinda like saying he could be the best fighter in Maryland. I can read between the lines.

And Paulie, you didn't make pick. So your headline is click-bait. Make a pick!

Ennis has been mismanaged. He was featured well at Showtime and once they stopped airing boxing their decision in not signing to a bigger promoter company hindered them. Plus he got to the division when all the stars were going up in weight or not fighting anymore. He has over 30 fights and no breakout names in his resume.

Boots looked bad vs Karen with 27 fights, so they get him a guy with 15 fights to look better. That makes sense.

The current 147-pound era is by far the worst in history

It’s goes points then Ennis is not the real deal simple, there is not one fight that stands out for a such a hyped up Champion, no names nothing i watch but got a feeling going to be a long night

I honestly think Stanionis will push Boots & then we'll find what Boots is made of. I like Stanionis. he one bad MoFo.

I also remember when my wife was pregnant. I totally understand Stanionis will feel regret that he can't be there, but I also think he will feel, massively, that he should & has to provide for his family & the best way to do that is is, somehow, by all means necessary, beat Boots.

All Ennis has to prove is to himself, that he can fight a disciplined fight and not feel pressured to knockout stanionis. If he stays focused in the fight, be himself, and don't fight for the crowd, he will punish Stanionis and probably stop him

Disagree totally with ArchieMoore1. I think Boots has to lighten up the arena. I'm not saying he necessarily has to spark out Staniontis but he has to make a big statement. A routine 12 round decision won't do that. A 12 rounder in which he won every round & played jokes & danced might be enough, but really, to justify the hype, we are all expecting KO. That is what hype means. Everyone would be delighted if Staniontis sc****d a win, by contrast, we are expecting. in fact demanding, exceptional from Boots.
