Pound for pound means: Who's the best if you broke every fighter in all the weight classes down into 1lb pieces & then matched an equal number of those 1lb pieces against each other.

in the eyes of boxing fans... BUT, if you are an actual boxer, one who is consider a top level boxer, YOU are NOT going to crown some 120lbs fighter as the best p4p#1. I am speaking on a top pro boxer's point of view, see thread title.

Ice I swear I'm not personally on your helmet, I just enjoy a discussion & so purely in the spirit of that, here's a quote from The Greatest himself (an actual boxer, I'm sure we can agree):

"“pound-for-pound, when they say Sugar Ray Robinson was the greatest fighter pound-for-pound, meaning that if I imagine he was a heavyweight fighting the same style he'd be the greatest, I would have to admit"

"I'd say I'm the greatest heavyweight of all times but pound-for-pound, I still say Sugar Ray Robinson was the greatest of all times"

          - Muhammad Ali

no offense taken... i am just explaining to you, that my comment is of a pro boxer's point of view... Inoue is too small for these bigger guys to come out and and admit that he's the #1p4p....

I feel like WW is the cutting point... anything below WW will not really get the recognition for it. so it will be ok for guys like Ali saying sugar ray is the best #1 p4p because sugar ray aint a small guy so it wont look bad on Ali to say sugar ray is the best.

just like in the NBA, lots of great players from the past, will not crown someone like curry or Iverson as the best player, etc.. because those players are too small.

Bud categorically can be no1, because it's opinion. But unlikely that there are guys who aren't considered higher.
Id say usyk and inoue higher. But bud alongside bivo l and nelo for sure and has a case for being higher than either

I believe you've already answered your own question when you asked who do we think is the king of the middleweight from a call-out by what's his name.
