Filip Hrgovic added another nail in the coffin of Joe Joyce?s career by defeating him via unanimous decision. Only time will tell if it was the final one.

I've only seen Frampton score a few fights before, but in every case his scoring has been abominable.
I skipped through the last few rounds, because I could see it wasn't going to be a ko, but all the while I was watching Hrgovic was sweeping the rounds in imo. Joyce was throwing mostly wide missing shots while Hrgovic landed continually on his head at will, but just couldn't put him away.
Joyce's attack is basic and lacks nuance, similar to Willie Zepeda. When all you rely on are a chin and aggression, there's a definite ceiling on how far you go in this sport.
Its either he retires or gets fed to Itauma next... Started as a pro late had a little bit of success but hes obviously aged and he's got even slower than he was before which is awful because he was really slow even at his best
Joyce never had experience as a fighter, he had a gimmick and for a while guys were getting experience, he was able to just keep coming forwards. like Kowanowski. It is a testiment to how weak the division has been that Joyce was able to become a force for a while. All that ended when it was figured out how defensively irresponsible Joyce actually was, just like the Polish kid.

I think he aged out similar to Kownacki as a chin can only take so many bombs before it cracks. Aside from Oliver McCall I don't recall any fighter having a rock solid chin that neglected defense as bad as these two did for fight after fight.
those commentators sure wanted to make it seem like this was a close fight.
Both the commentators and one judge had it much closer than what it was. I think it was a 3 to 4 point home advantage, especially for the judge who had it by only 1 point for Hrgovic. In my opinion 98-92 was about right. Quite frankly I struggled to give any rounds to Joyce - sure he was coming forward and swinging, but he was mostly missing while Hrgovic was constantly landing flush.
I was live in the Coop Arena as a one of few Hrgovic supporters and have to admit that the British Fans were very fair after announcement of the results. No booing, admission with respect that the better man won this Night with the cleaner and more shots. Uncomparable to the prior fight between Adeleye and TKV. The Hrgovic/Joyce fight was at least 2 classes higher in terms of level and tension.
But the Main Event was much closer than expected. Hrgovic started with 3 fantastic rounds with Technical extraordinary skills and then gassed out. With this condition forget it to aim for a world title.
By the way. How could any boxing fan not like Joe Joyce? A fair and nice guy with always a smile in his face. We boxing Fans will miss him. Very probably that this is the end for him.
