Raul Martinez Returns To Bank a TKO Win

Raul “The Cobra” Martinez has come back from his fourth round TKO loss to IBF/IBO flyweight champion Nonito “The Filipino Flash” Donaire at the famed Araneta Coliseum in Metro Manila last April 19 to score a fourth round TKO over Jonathan “El Explosivo” Perez in a fight card at the Whataburger Field in Corpus Christi, Texas on Sunday, Manila Time. I don't know how Martinez is dealing with that loss to Donaire, but he could take Vic out fairly easily I think. I'd be surprised if they actually put Vic in with Martinez given the problems Vic has had. But one thing to look out for is how much bigger Vic is compared to Martinez. All these small guys look the same to me, but Donaire made Martinez look like mighty mouse. lol I almost shat myself at how small Raul was compared to Donaire. For whatever reason I thought they were the same size.

As for Martinez vs Donaire, he was able to jump up from every knock down in that Donaire fight. I thought that **** was stopped wayyyyy too early too. If Raul didn't get caught so early in the first round, and knew how to deal with that reach advantage of Donaire's, I think he would have been able to actually get into the fight. And that was all Martinez's fault.

That was just a piss poor performance from Raul. The guy was actually trying to jump and dive in just to touch Donaire, that's not even Martinez's style. Raul is NEVER that sloppy when he fights. He looked like a compressed ball of nervous energy though. All he had to do was slip punches until he found his range. But he looked like he was filled with panic and uncertainty the way he was just jumping in to try and reach Donaire. He looked like he didn't know what the **** he was doing. He came out the gate looking like he wanted to throw his guard up, and find a way just to casually walk in lmao. He paid for that **** badly.

Now I'd love to see him get another shot at a big name instead of fighting nobodies for another year. That Vic fight would be a perfect fight to launch him out of this little setback he's in. I read another article that said he was askin Arum for some big fights, hopefully they won't jerk Martinez around like they do with the rest of their fighters, and actually put him in there with some names.

But yeah, if Martinez has to fight a guy with that much reach on him again...dude just needs to calm the **** down and not square up like a human target lol. Enter the ring lively from the first bell, and be ready to duck and slip. He needs to know he can take as long as he needs to find his distance, doesn't need to rush himself. Cause he's got the hands and agility to touch guys up at crazy angles.
