  • Comments Thread For: Jaron ?Boots? Ennis has plans, and Eimantas Stanionis wants to ruin them

A win for IBF champion Jaron ?Boots? Ennis on April 12 over WBA champion Eimantas Stanionis would earn him a second world title, gain him recognition as the Ring Magazine welterweight champion, and add him to a list of fighters who reigned at 147lbs, including Floyd Mayweather and Sugar Ray Leonard.

The author cites from a conversation between the two fighters. Context? Where and when did that dialog occur? Press conference? Was it the "documentary infomercial" mentioned in the first paragraph? What is a "documentary infomercial" anyway?

I can't think of any fighters career that has been so badly managed, perhaps, anyways I'm lookin foward to what hopefully is a competitive fight.

I hope Boots can fulfill his wishes, and become "UNDISPUTED" at 147, however I still feel that it is the most meaningless run for undisputed since Terence Crawford did it at 140. I remember Crawford choosing to stay @ 140, instead of fighting Pacquiao at 147! Terrible decision! It might be the same for Boots choosing to stay @ 147, and not fighting Vergil Ortiz Jr. instead!

Thank you for your questions, and my apologies for the missing context.

This was what in print media would sometimes be referred to as an advertorial. It presented itself as a documentary but, all things considered, it's an infomercial – "shoulder programming" to help market the match.

The fighters were standing in Boardwalk Hall in a moment set up for the infomercial. Here's the time stamped link.

Boots got protection. Just like the movies. He signed for big money and easy fights. He will always be the favorite from now on, even into old age. 33-0 29KOs and his biggest fight is 15-0. Can he underwhelm any harder?

Ducked Crawf twice and then ducked Ortiz. Wondering why the haters dont show that same hate they had for Crawf towards Bootsy? 147 is a wack division, period.

Boots doesn’t sound like a guy who really wants to unify the division imo
If he really did them he would of done what was necessary to fight Norman
Ill give him the benefit of doubt and see who he lines up next if he gets the win here
That will definitely tell us what’s up

It seems like Brian Norman, Jr has finally come around now. He appears to be on board to wanting to fight Jaron "Boots" Ennis but at what cost? We as boxing fans must remember that boxing is a business first and a sport second.

If Matchroom and Team Ennis offers Team Norman more money than originally offered; Then perhaps the fight could get done instantly. However, I don't expect his dad and his handlers to fight for just peanuts.

So therefore, we just may be back at square one.
