Heather Hardy's situation is fücking heartbreaking.

Look, we all know what this is. It's punching each other.

Recently though, not just here, there's been a proliferation of increasingly poignant & poetically worded articles about the long term effects of boxing on the brain.

There seems to be a collective gut feeling that 2 minute rounds are going to get these young ladies more hurt than necessary, someone's got to be brave enough to run the 3 minute experiment & see if we get these stoppages or not.

I expect a serious lack of interest after Katie retires. She was the only female fighter that had the boxing purist fan interested. She will go down as the greatest ever female fighter and will be a huge loss to boxing. Unfortunately the other 4 or 5 top female fighters just don't have it in them to pick up the mantle. Those 4 or 5 would be Shields, Cameron, Mayer, baumgardner and possibly Serrano, though Serrano will probably retire if Katie goes 3-0 against her. It would be impossible for Serrano to continue after a 3-0 thumping by Katie and I think Serrano wouldn't embarrass herself by fighting on. So in my opinion Eddie will be out of female boxing after Katie retires. Eddie knows the eyes were only on Katie Taylor and he won't be willing to subsidize female boxing.

Katie Taylor has been extremely lucky with some of those close decisions; many think that Serrano squeaked by, especially in the last bout. And there's Cameron too.

The money also doesn't lie with the "purists," it lies with the casual fans. And there will be more Taylors and Serranos out there. The Puerto Rican and Latino communities will gobble up the next Serrano, as they are gobbling her up right now. She is huge especially among her fellow Boricuas.

There's plenty of room for growth, Raskin is right. Hopefully that translates into more skillful boxers. The progress is clear when you compare this era with the era of Christy Martin, Laila Ali, and Ann Wolfe, and, as more women get into the sport, which is happening, women's boxing will continue its march.

u simply need good competition in a division even mens divisions become wastelands at times with nothing happening for a long time taylor and serrano just match up very well and cameron is good as well they all need each other to make the big events to generate the paydays, shields is unlucky she doesnt have any good pro rival or rivals to generate interest
